Archers must register, participate, and turn in a completed scorecard, defined as:

  • Full, prescribed arrow count has been shot and scored on scorecard

    • Withdrawing without completing the number of arrows prescribed in the tournament rule-set will result in 100 points for SOTY standings**

  • Correctly signed and verified at DOS at the end of each tournament

**In the event of a medical emergency or catastrophic equipment failure, the Tournament Director may, at their sole discretion, approve an exception to the prescribed arrow count. Results from an approved exception may still be eligible to count toward SOTY standings.**

Details

  • Shooter of the Year standings will be calculated using four best finishes for each archer

  • A minimum of four tournaments required for archer to remain eligible for SOTY

  • Men's division is the Open Division

    • All genders are allowed in Open Division

      • One individual competing within different gender divisions is calculated as two separate archers for Shooter of the Year Calculations

        • For example:

        - Taylor A. competes in Open for Momentum and Women for RMC and wins first place in both

        - Taylor A. will get a participation score and a missed event, leaving a Shooter of the Year score of:

1 and 100 in their Open category, and

100 and 1 in their Women category

  • Age division is based on the archer’s birth year

    • *Any archer can compete in the Adult division no matter their birth year*

Scoring

Archers will receive points based on their placement for each tournament.

For the final series rankings, an archer must shoot at least 4 of the 5 tournaments in the series to remain eligible for Shooter of the Year.

If an archer shoots more than four tournaments, their best 4 rankings will be used to calculate their final series ranking.

The archer with the least amount of points will be the series winner. Not participating or not turning in a completed scorecard in an event will result in a score of 100 points for that tournament.

Scoring Example:

1st Place = 1 pts

2nd Place = 2 pts

…

10th place = 10 pts

Did not participate/finish = 100 pts

Ties

Ties in series points will be determined in order as follows: Rocky Mountain Classic, May Day 900, Velocity, NFAA 5-Spot, then Momentum

Example 1:

In the above scenario, both archers are tied in series points with their best 4 scorings. The series winner will default to their Rocky Mountain Classic placement first, resulting in Archer C winning Shooter of the Year.

Example 2:

In the above scenario, both archers are tied in series points with their best 4 scorings. The series winner would first default to their Rocky Mountain placement, but both archers received 100 points for the event. The tie would then be resolved with their May Day 900 placement, resulting in Archer B winning Shooter of the Year.

Age Divisions

Age division is based on the archer’s birth year
*Any archer can compete in the Adult division no matter their birth year*

One individual competing within different age divisions is calculated as two separate archers for Shooter of the Year Calculations

  • For example:

- Taylor A. was born in 1970

- Taylor A. competes in Adult for Momentum and Senior for RMC and wins first place in both

- Taylor A. will get a participation score and a missed event, leaving a Shooter of the Year score of:

1 and 100 in their Adult category, and

100 and 1 in their Senior category

Equipment

You must provide your own equipment.

All Divisions:

  • Freestyle: Any sight and written memorandum; hand-operated release aid; rear stabilizer may not touch archer

  • Freestyle Bowhunter: Max of 5 pin sight fixed (after official practice); stabilizer cannot exceed 12“ from base of bushing to tip of stabilizer; no magnification

  • Barebow: Stabilizers allowed (no more than 12“ from base of bushing to tip of stabilizer), finger position can move

  • Freestyle Limited Recurve: Olympic Recurve

One individual competing within different bow divisions is calculated as two separate archers for Shooter of the Year Calculations

  • For example:

- Taylor A. competes in Barebow for Momentum and Freestyle for RMC and wins first place in both

- Taylor A. will get a participation score and a missed event, leaving a Shooter of the Year score of:

1 and 100 in their Barebow category, and
